CHILDREN'S SUNDAY SCHOOL MEETS AT 9:40

Our children gather on Sunday mornings at 9:40 on the 2nd floor of the newly reconfigured Atkin Learning Center. The ALC is a two story learning space especially designed with young people in mind. It includes a new nursery area, larger gathering areas, art room, theater, science/learning kitchen and classrooms.

SUNDAY MORNING NURSERY‐Under 2 years
I
nfants and toddlers under age 2 will find the First UMC nursery a safe and loving Christian environment. Our nursery staff and childcare workers are experienced in childcare, CPR/First Aid certified, and vetted through a background check and references. First UMC Georgetown has adopted a “Safe Sanctuary” policy for our guidance in establishing the best practices in childcare. For your child’s safety, all parents are required to register each child and complete a medical release form. Only parents or grandparents are authorized to bring a child or pick up a child from the nursery. Pagers will soon be available upon request for your use during the worship service.
We seek loving volunteers to teach and guide children on Sunday mornings and during other times of learning and fun. To volunteer, please contact Dotty Hooker, Director of Christian Education.

PRESCHOOL‐ Children ages 2, 3, 4, and Kinder
Preschoolers use colorful, active, age‐appropriate curriculum such as, Rock Solid Building a Heart of Faith.
Caring teaching teams for each class, include at least 4 adults that each teach once a month. Children are grouped by ages as of September 1st.

ROTATION  SUNDAY SCHOOL ‐ First through Fifth Grade ‐ ALC Room 220
The rotation method allows reinforcement of Bible stories over several Sundays, using different teaching modalities to address different learning styles. Adult Shepherds provide the children with continuity and assist the teachers while children explore biblical themes through stations in art, science, storytelling, games and music. Children in first through fifth grades meet in the Gathering Area of the Atkin Learning Center, then divide into grade level groups and travel to a rotation station for Bible study and activities. The lessons are built on United Methodist curriculum and have a central, Bible‐based theme.
