First - Fifth Grades:
Children who are in first through fifth grades meet in
Gathering Area in the Atkin Learning Center (second floor), then
divide into grade-level groups and go to a rotation station. Children in elementary school
are encouraged to attend a church service with their parents in
addition to one hour of Sunday School. The FUMC Children’s Sunday School lessons are from a United Methodist curriculum which has a central, Bible-based theme. Preschool children use colorful, active, age-appropriate curriculum: Building a Heart of Faith. School-aged children are taught using the PowerXpress Rotation Sunday School curriculum. The rotation method allows reinforcement of Bible stories over several Sundays, using different teaching methods to address different learning styles. Children explore themes as they rotate through stations in art, science, story telling, games or music. The Rotation method increases learning and retention. Each grade level is assigned it's own adult teaching assistant called a Shepherd, that stays with the children as they move through the various teaching stations. Child Care Our church provides a safe and loving environment for children in our care. Child care is provided during the 8:30, 10:45, and 11:00 a.m. worship services, child care is provided for children four years of age and younger in ALC Rooms 122 and 123. |
